History of the drink:

Kyrgyz-Kazakh national drink Maksym, earlier also known as achyma, achygan kojo, was made basically from barley as well as corn, wheat and millet. There was also no single production technology that is why the taste of Maksym produced in different families, could vary significantly.

Besides, the retention cycle of the drink was limited to 2 days maximum. In the latest days of Soviet regime, this national drink was almost forgotten and lost, excluding several rare families. Starting the first day and during a period of 4 years, Shoro faced problems with the quality and retention cycle of it. There was an urgent necessity in a new technology and new recipe of manufacturing Maskym on industrial base with guaranteed retention cycle and stable quality.

Taabaldy Egemberdiev, the president of the company, started developing a new technology. He studied a lot of books and theories, and for the next three years he has been trying different equipments, temperature regimes and other factors. Finally, new industrial, “know-how” technology of producing Maksym was developed. It demanded observance of 38 factors of producing the drink, starting from barley type and ending with keeping method. Violation of any leads to defects in quality.

Egemberdiev brothers received license for the recipe of a new drink. According to a new recipe, Maksym Shoro, which consumers call shortly – Shoro, by the name of company, is being made from fried barley, corn and wheat flour. Retention cycle is prolonged to 10 days in bottle. Shoro became the most popular drink in Kyrgyzstan and a calling card of Bishkek city.

According to marketing researches, 60-70% of drink being released falls on Russian-speaking population and foreign people, what makes Shoro think this drink could be success on foreign markets, as Russian and Chinese. The main qualities of Shoro are not only original sour-salt taste with a flavor of fried corn, but also the unique ability to instantly slake the thirst.

Thirst occurs when a person lose salt, which leaves organism together with sweat. Drinking Maksym recoups this loss. Besides, no drink in the world could be chilled to -3-4 C, excluding Maksym. It contains salt that is why admirers can enjoy this cold drink during the hottest summer days. The temperature of Maksym is lower than the one of Arctic ice.

There is a steady opinion existing amongst people, that Maksym is the best remedy from hangover syndrome and it lets being in a good mood and cheerful condition without yesterday’s party symptoms. The drink is also very useful for young mothers.


Maksym Shoro drink is being made from natural products: pure spring water, fried barley, corn grains and wheat flour. It has delicate taste and flavor, slakes thirst and hunger, stimulates and heals. The formula of vitaminized drink Maksym Shoro is developed on the base of ancient recipes and is unique in the whole world. This drink contains following components:

В1 - thiamine- strengthens nervous system, raises tonus of organism, is recommended in case of radiculitis, neuralgia, ulcers. Rough fibrous structure of oatmeal bran clears the digestive system and removes chemical waste.

В2 – riboflavin – supports sight, takes part in hemoglobin synthesis and reduction-oxidation processes

С – ascorbic acid – strengthens vessels, improves tissue regeneration and blood coagulability, normalizes the permeability of capillary, recreates fast and effective.

РР – nicotinic acid – decreases the cholesterol level, widens vessels, has anti-allergic qualities, gives positive effect in case of diabetics, heart and liver diseases, stabilizes functioning of stomach.

Ready-to-use drink has gray, wheatish color and nice taste with the flavor of fried grain. New recipe is patented by the state. This drink is useful for both adults and children. Maksym is also called “a liquid bread”, which could be drank starting from childhood and till extreme old age. It is recommended for using by Ministry of Healthcare of KR and Institution of Nutrition under the Academy of Science of Kazakh Republic as alcohol-free, nourishing and health-improving drink.
